Cappadocia is a Unesco world heritage site
located in central part of Turkey.
The region is known for it's
fantastic rock formations, rock carved
churches, troglodyte settlements and underground
cities. Cappadocia Lodge is a
charming guest house
located
in Uchisar,
on the heights of this region.
Having one of the highest positions
up above the region, the guest house offers unique views over the valleys and
Argeus mountain in the horizon.
In 2003
archaeologist Tolun Çerkeş, purchased a complex
of historical houses in Uchisar, composed of 19 rooms in the
aim of transforming them into a boutique
hotel. After the
approval of a restoration project by the
ministry of culture,
careful restoration works were
carried out in the complex.
The
aim was to create a cave hotel complying with
the natural and historical texture of the
region. Having this objective in mind specialized
architects, masters and workers
were employed for the restorations.
During restorations,
an ancient tunnel was found behind
the wall of one of the cave rooms.
This tunnel is several kilometers long
and is connecting the house to a network of
subterranean galleries and rooms in the underground. The rock castle called Tiraz, in
the giant rock formation next to the
lodge, was possibly
carved out by the Hittites, soon after the
bronze age when iron tools were widely used.
Subsequent civilizations and early
Christians must have inhabited this particular
area primarily for defense purposes.
Located at an altitude of
approximately 1250 meters, the spot
usually receives a nice
mountain breeze.
The cave rooms are designed
to reflect a proper Cappadocia ambiance. Being in the bosom of the nature, by
the orchards of peasants, Cappadocia Lodge offers an extraordinary
panorama of the rock formations. The employers
of Cappadocia Lodge
are eager to get
acquainted with different folks and be friends
with them.
Come and stay with us, rest in a traditional
and friendly Cappadocian ambiance. We will
do our best to make you feel comfortable and
will be honored to host you during your
journey in this wonderful land.
